Who wants to check out an underground nucular fallout shelter? I was over at Bruce Beech's house last night having some bean soup and we talked about a possible meet-up with several preppers at once. Bruce Beech is the creator and owner a fallout shelter known as the 'Ark 2'. More information can be found out about it here: ARK 2 Official Website.

This is an extensive shelter that can fit up to 500 people. I was thinking of renting a school bus with a central location so that we could all go together.

Questions/Comments?

Where is it located? And when were you thinking?

I'm not much of a school bus type of guy, but would certainly drive to look at this place. Would love to review, ask questions on the building, specifics, etc.

Driving out would be perfectly fine. We don't generally have a guns blazing group of guys. In fact, quite the contrary. There will be a diverse group coming up to the event. Call me superstitious but I was thinking of planning it on December 21st, 2012.

I'm happy to give specific directions once people have committed to signing up. Please feel free to ask more questions/give more comments...

I heard about that thing. I think a tour of it would be totally awesome. I wonder where your bus would depart from, or if meeting there would be an option for those of us out of bus range.

If your home library contains more volumes about survival-related topics than your local public library, you might be a prepper.

The wife and I would be interested in that. I think that is the same guy interviewed on that TV show.

Very impressive what he has done.

Yes, his name is Bruce and he was featured on Nat Geo's Doomsday preppers. We'll be visiting the same bunker featured in the documentary. You and your wife are welcome to come. Pm Sent.

Obviously people could come directly by vehicle or carpool with other preppers as they see fit. The school bus departure largely depends on where everyone else is (that is interested in taking the school bus) and we'll be centralized from there.

Supper will likely be inside the shelter. A hot pot of Chili with fresh rolls. Again, there isn't any cost but I'm hoping some people wouldn't mind helping out in and around the ARK 2 as it needs some upkeep. Aside from that bring your camera's and explore the many school buses (42 in all) that were buried underground to create this shelter.

Wow, that sounds really interesting....Bruce Beech also authored a very popular Nuclear Survival guide that circulates the web. I notice you have a meetup.com group. Would you like it added to this map? http://goo.gl/maps/pxw7A I could change the name of that map if we start including groups outside of the U.S.

Please send me the specifics too.

This is definitely interesting to me, and I'm sure there are others in the area that would probably be interested. Road Trip! 🙂

Sure, that would be great. A drop-pin anywhere within Toronto will be fine.

The date isn't for certain but if you live in Ontario and you're superstitious then it's probably the safest place you could be...
