I, too, have Neem Oil in my 'bag of tricks', along with Tea Tree Oil. Would like to try Oil of Oregano, too. Neem Oil is made from a tree in India. In North America it's primarily known for getting rid of bugs in farming, but in India it's been a cure all for people for eons.

Garlic is great, plus we can grow a constant supply easily.

my grandmother used a mustard plaster for a chest infection when in her teens. It was left on too long and burned her. I do not know if it helped the chest infection.

My grandmother ALWAYS used them on my dad and his siblings. It became a joke in the family. If my sister or I walked around complaining about feeling too sick for school my dad would say, "Well I guess it's time to go to Gramma's for the mustard plaster!" We quickly "got better". They never did use it on us but my dad still uses them. He says they help. I will have to get her recipe to share with you guys 🙂
We started taking colloidal silver when we thought we were being hit with the February flu bugs. No flu yet and not even a sore throat this past winter. I also use Oil of Oregano religiously 3 drops with a cup of water, stir and chug... don't think about it just chug it!
I am a vitamin popper (2 multi vitamins, 2500 mg Vitamin C, 2 Vit D tabs plus 2 B complex daily) and a juice fanatic (I make juice with a juicer... beet juice with apples and cucumber is a favorite) and I swear by both as well. Our colds do not last long, we have cut back on yearly antibiotics and I am a believer of staying out of public when there is a flu bug going around or if I am feeling under the weather. Part of being a prepper is the ability to remove ourselves from society as needed right? lol well as much as we can anyways.

the perfect way...stay away from those that are
Absolutely! I wish people would realize that THEY themselves are the reasons for disease spreading around. I realize that sometimes it is unavoidable but, really if you have the flu... stay home! Clean your house daily by washing down touched surfaces... especially the bathroom and bedroom, eat soup and drink tea and stop contaminating the people you don't have to.
A strong immune system is your best defence (apart from avoiding those with "germs" where possible). Sometimes the "germ factories" may not know that they are sick or show any symptoms of illness until after you've been in contact with them. Lots of fresh fruit and veg (as much raw as you can handle) and fresh raw juices, adequate protein foods and lots of water and some exercise to keep everything in good working order. Lots of Vit C, garlic etc will help your immune system cope.

Are you referring to the Neem tree? If so its a native tree to India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Pakistan and other tropical and semi tropical regions. Research shows that its famous as a malaria treatment and for diabetes. Neem is just about anti-everything: anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-septic, anti-diabetic, anti-fungal, blood-purifying, spermicidal. Neem is also used as an organic pesticide. Sounds like it could be used as an anti biotic with all these properties. for more info, check out the site www.discoverneem.com.
thats what i was takin about....thx!

I grow garlic and ginger in pots in and around my home year round. Whenever I feel like I'm coming down with something I make a tea with the garlic and ginger and I add a bunch of cayenne powder, honey and lemon juice. My next move is to get a couple lemon trees. They grow well indoors even in Canada.
I regularly eat raw garlic and ginger as a preventative. I don't get flu shots and I don't take antibiotics and I haven't had a bad flu for years.

Take a 6 inch x 6 inch or larger pot with drain holes. Clay pots work well because they hold the suns heat. Cover the bottom with a layer of small stones for better drainage. Fill with nutrient rich compost soil. Stick cloves pointy end up about 1/2 an inch or so down and cover. 3-5 inches apart if planting more than one clove in a larger pot. Keep it in a sunny spot and water and feed with organic fertilizer regularly once it sprouts. Garlic likes to be watered especially when its hot and dry. 5-6 months or so later and you've got a head of garlic. Harvest when the stems start to die and fall over. To check just dig away some soil and take a look at the bulb. Plant some today as spring start is best. Stagger plantings for a constant supply, pick a head, plant a clove or two off of it. You can eat it fresh or hang it outside by the stems on a covered shaded porch in warm weather for a few weeks to cure it for storage.
Some people have had trouble growing it in pots but it worked fine for us. 1 clove = 1 head of cloves. They aren't HUGE GM sized heads but it's garlic and it seems to be much stronger than most store bought especially when fresh. We got ours from an heirloom grower at a farmers market.
Ginger is even easier to grow. Just nestle a few 2-3 inch pieces of root 1 inch down in the soil and leave the top exposed and in a few months you will have a whole bunch. It sprouts in literally just a few days. If left to grow for many months it will actually pretty much fill the pot and no home should be without it.
