I've noticed that alot of you are from Eastern Ontario! That's great! Without devulging your exact location, do you want to share whereabouts you live ? Maybe, something about your preparedness/plans....you know. It would be nice to sort of have a sub-group of like minded people in closer geographical proximity.....maybe for future get-togethers (ie. @ Tim Hortons to start....). Just a thought....

I'm fairly new here, and this is my first post. My husband and I are considering a property to buy in Eastern Ontario (Killaloe area). I'm encouraged to hear that there are so many preppers in Eastern Ontario! IF my dream comes true and we do actually move to EO then I would love to meet with some of you. Do any of you know if that area is overly restrictive as to building bylaws, etc. (adding a greenhouse, small animal shelter, etc.) or are the authorities fairly easy going? Sorry if this constitutes a new topic 😳

Check your county and the regs for the place you are looking to buy very carefully for what you want to do.. we looked at places in certain county's and could not do what we wanted with our small farm etc, on one property we looked at, it seemed perfect but we didn't have enough road frontage for one of the things I wanted.
As for how hard they come down on the bylaws alot will depend on if you are doing it for personal use or if what you are making will be used to "sell" anything off the farm, it changes there view on it or at least it does in my next of the woods.

I was saying to farmgal, the Ottawa experimental farm would be a good location to meet. lots of parking. and we can go see the GMO goat that spins spider webs.

so is April 14 looking good for a date. my star sign say exciting things are going to happen from the 14 on. there is many parking spots there, I was thinking the east side, i think its prince of wails rd, all have to google map it, but there is dows lake on the road.
