New here. Ottawa area. What is the current status of meet and greets in the capital area?

Current Status is that we are off for the season but more then willing to do a meet/visit at the main ottawa meeting place if there are at least a few folks who want to meet up, otherwise it will most likely be spring for the next one..

Hi all, new to the forum - we live north east of Kingston (one retired and one serving military and four dogs). I'm looking for help in locating any mil surplus, preparedness stores etc in the area. Also looking for where to buy wheat berries and other long term storage supplies locally (ie in On)
Thanks!
Why is it all the companies seem to be in BC???
Not new to the forums, but am in the middle of moving back to Ottawa with my young family. Going to be working/living in the Alta Vista area most likely, but my family has a fair bit of land a short drive away in the northern Ottawa Valley.
Looking forward to making it out to the next EOP meet-up.
It's coming... and it's going to hurt!
Im between Ottawa and Kingston, looking to get together for coffee or a beer to create a network of people that want to keep in touch prior, during, an after anything..like to set up a comms plan with a group of people..

A comms network sounds interesting...maybe something to talk about when we start meeting in the spring!
Great idea Denob......I know nothing about this!
Regarding regional comms in the event of a major power outage, I used to know some ham radio operators on Quebec side. That requires licensing. Citizen's band is an option I'm interested in knowing more about, for reasons of ease of use.

I just joined this site and live in Tweed - would like to have conversation with other preppers and delighted to find a local resource. I've been struggling with the American sites which seem so gun related that I wonder if I'm just too naive to understand their perspective. I'll be looking for discussions about that topic on this site to get a feel for how Canadians approach the need for personal defense.
On Bruce Beach's 'Ark II' site they talk about a hybrid computer and radio system for sending text.
Once they've perfected the system, they can advise others on how to purchase and set one up.

Welcome Miriam, I am in the rocklandish area, I hope you will like the board and hope you will be able to attend one or more of the face to face local get togethers, I for one am not willing to talk about personal defence online, but am willing in a face to face way.. hope to see you at the ottawa centered events, and that others who are more comfortable talking about it online will share with you this subject.

Good Day Guys
Last year we have the main coffee chats in Ottawa proper, and our big day/potluck get together about 40 mins outside of ottawa, which was a great space.
This year, I would like to keep any coffee/visit meet ups and or seed/plant swap to at the regular place in ottawa, what I would really like to see happen this year is one meet heading towards Montreal (perhaps at the same spot as last years in the forest), Prepher has a spot just off the 401 that was around half way between cornwall and kingston, and one that is heading into the perth/lanak country.
The idea is still staying well within our Eastern Ottawa prepper range but pushing the meets out into the outer rangings so that ideally we can engage more folks, I would like to keep the meets to sunday's aiming for tenish starting times and 3ish ending times, with a pot luck, and at least one to four small or large presentions/education idea's but leaving lots of time for visiting as well..
I also want to keep a close eye on some of the different things other groups are offering that would be prepper related, example there is a group in lanark county that does wild food foraging walks that could have a gathering centered around it or be a offered as a extra by just putting it up and even if one or two or more show up, its a good learning time and also a good way to also meet and visit, and perhaps have a coffee afterwards etc.
So for those in perth/lanark country, can you give some idea's on where there is a good outdoor covered picnic area in that neck of the woods? Prepher, could you please remind me where that spot was again off the 401?
