Popped out to the site yesterday to do a table count (9 big ones, I say will hold eight each, hubby says 10) and to poke around the trails a bit, I will bring some extra TP just in case for the porta station, along with some hand cleaner as there is no running water on site.. On the other hand, we spotted at least 10 plants around the site or on the closest trail that are all good wild forage, Had a few folks go by on qauds otherwise, it was as quiet as a mouse out there, so here is hoping its the same for us this coming sunday..

The thing that had me really laughing was that someone was clearly target practicing, multiply small arms fire in different calibers, and I teased hubby, No, not today, make it next week, so that folks can talk about which ones is what LOL

Great Farmgal! I'll try to be there shortly after 10:30 a.m. Please bring the 'nametags' as I think it will help to remember names. Also, could you put a "EOPrep" sign up at the Indian Creek Road turn to Larose Forest and again at P1?
I have to give away, some Comfrey plants potted up for the taking -about 6 pots (Farmgal I have your Comfrey and do you also want Anise Hyssop (Licorice smelling?) - and 4 pots of small Dill plants, trying hard to survive the heat in their new pots, but still alive (just grow it this year to seed, collect seeds for next year = more plants). I can also dig some Jerusalum Artichoke if anyone wants some - I can spare a few..... Please let me know.
I just want to repeat the 'rules of the meet' that someone else posted elsewhere, which include:
a) Remember to bring an ingredients list for your Potluck food contribution
b) Please, NO firearms. Thanks.
Looking forward to meeting everyone! 😀

I am open to any and all plants 🙂

I will get the name tags tomorrow and will pick up some balloons to blow up and tie on the corner to put on sign for P1, the road does not have a turn, its just follow it provided you came off at the highway overpass but what I will do is take a photo of the sign and put it up on this so folks will have seen it online.

My son is taking horticulture and forestry, we LOVE plants!
I would love some artichoke!!! please please 🙂

The boys and I have decided to make a cake for the potluck (as we are traveling so no need to worry about it going bad on the way) and some beverages of course 😉 (and again, only small samples will be given.) Some sort of wine (I may bring my homemade mojito) and some Lemoncello.

I'm new to Prepping and can't believe there's a get-together just down the road from where I live!!!! But I won't be home that weekend 🙁

Re: places to stay: bbcanada.com and search around Embrun, Limoges, Vars etc. A little further is Domaine de Bourget (I know the owners and have heard rave reviews). And this one looks great (you can even stay in a 5th wheel trailer if you want to keep to yourselves): http://www.domainedamour.com/

Hope you all have a terrific time and hope it's such a success you'll do it again (and I can join you).
Karen

Welcome Karen, there are a few of us in the same local area, maybe we can do a coffee get together in aug, sorry that you are going to be missing the get together this sunday, next time?

Ok folks, I had way to much fun at the dollar store yesteday with a friend of mine (who you will get to meet on sunday) and my bag of goodies for the gift swap and maybe even a few fun prizes for other things 🙂 I'm getting excited to meet everyone!

I did get the name tags, and the red ballons for tie out at the corner.. It does look likes its possable that we might have rain showers for the day and that it will be hot, so for those coming, it is cooler in the forest itself and we do have full shelter cover.

Just realized that a few folks might be coming in on the other side by Country Road 8, the logical choice for anyone in the rockland or glengarry area etc, so I will also tie a few red ballons to the turn sign sunday morning, on the turn you come off of that road, you will need to come almost to the end of that road before you will see the sign for P1.. There is the P2 directly off of Country RD 8, don't want folks getting lost.. No red ballons.. not the right place 🙂

Of course..

http://www.prescott-russell.on.ca/en/larose-forest/maps/how-to-get-there

To get to P1, take Highway 417 to exit 79 (well-marked since this is the exit for Calypso Waterpark). Go through the town of Limoges and follow the sharp right curve in the road onto Saumure Road. Stay on this road — the name changes to Indian Creek — and take the second left onto a road which is also Indian Creek. You’ll find P1 less than a kilometre down this road.

To make things easier, we should probably each bring our own plates, cup, and utensils for the Potluck....
