Alright i have an alternative:

Richters Herbs has been growing and selling herbs and seeds since 1969. They are located in Goodwood Ontario, just outside of Uxbridge.

I have spoken with the owner and we have permission to hold our meet there in Aug, I have proposed Aug 11 or 18 as someone mentioned here earlier, so far both those wknds are ok on their end. There is no covered shelters but we can use either a piece of grassy field in the front of their property or the gravel parking lot in the back. I have asked the owner if he would speak to us and answer any questions we may have about herbs as well I have asked him to prepare a short list of the most valuable/hardy herbs to the Canadian preper. He said he would be happy to do so and has already mentioned that Comfry will top the list.

So, I leave it to you....if people are interested and able to decide on a firm date I will arrange it with them. I was asked how many people would be coming, I said somewhere around 20, if there are to be more I will have to let them know.

Oh, there will be no cost for anything, other then the herbs and seeds you might feel the need to purchase.

Camping for out of towners was mentioned, but would not work at this location if it is to be chosen.

I believe I'm in. It's only a 1.5 hour drive for me and I'm stoked to meet some folks face to face.

Just a beginning prepper in that I've only just begun stockpiling/hoarding goods. But I've been an active obtainer & exerciser of traditional/historical know-how for almost 2 decades. Information takes up a lot less space than goods! 😉

Sounds and looks good to me. Thanks for your hard work on all our behalf. Curious if anyone knows of any camping areas closeby?

I hear there is going to be a meeting close to Ottawa in July but I can't find any info, can someone help me out.

I know Heber Downs very well, and would totally be interested in meeting like minded people in the area 🙂 Whart do these meets generally consist of? I haven't really done much in the way of prepping so far, but really want to, just not sure where to start as of yet!

Hey All... this seems to have gone to hibernation. Have we settled on a date yet? Iy is the middle of June now so would be best to firm things up as people will be developing plans etc for the summer.

The person looking after the Durham meet has gone fishing for a week. The person looking after the Ottawa one is out of province ATM

Mom2two: the next Ottawa area meet-up is tenetively scheduled for Sunday July 15th @ 11 a.m. - with a Pot Luck Lunch proposed. The location has yet to be determined at the moment. There's a thread about this which I will bump up to the top.

Home from fishing!! Richters Herbs sounds great to me but it does eliminate the camping aspect.

How many people need to find accommodations? There are lots of sites available at Darlington Provincial Park for those weekends. We could book a group camping site but we have to arrange that through the park and we can't book on-line. With the number of people coming from a distance I think we need to keep a camping option open somehow. Either do it as a two-parter - first meet in Uxbridge and then find somewhere close by to camp or change to a location where a meeting and camping are available.

I think we are getting some confusion here. There are two distinct Ontario meeting groups...Southern and Eastern. There have been questions from members about meeting times and places. If there are no objections, I would like to create 2 new topics...Southern Ontario Meetings & Eastern Ontario Meetings. I would then merge a few other topics posted into their respective places. I hope to clarify some confusion as well as group the posts into one, easy to read topic for each area.

Any Thoughts?

Maybe you need to change the Subject of this thread to Next Southern Ontario Meet...... just a suggestion
