Fox stew! It tends to be on the tougher side, so soak it overnight in salt water to break it down a bit. Tasty...
None you improvise, one (or more) is luxury.
How are you gonna get rid of that pesky thing?
So I put out my leg traps in the coop after putting the chickens in cages. Caught 3 squirrels! They destroy insulation in the coop and steal feed so I'm still happy. The hunts continues... my wife saw another fox trying to get into the recycling. Pretty brave with two dogs roaming
I thought I would share how my garden was last year just so people see what's possible by hand with a cast. My wife and kids helped stain the boxes. We used used deep fried oil and put two coats. I filled 90% of all the boxes myself but needed help getting the boxes in place and moving the wheelbarrow until my dad gifted me one with two wheels in the front. The boxes have a hugelculture aspect to them taken from permaculture. Cardboard to kill weeds double thick. Different size wood to absorb, give out moisture when hot. Then wood attracts and feeds worms and microfungi Web that gives life to soil. Lastly the wood will add compost through time enriching my soil from underneath without having to till the soil. The boxes are raised by bricks which alows for drainage and preservation of the boxes. This also allows me to put the wood while keeping the box deep with soil and room for roots to go deeper if needed. Theirs leaves over the Isles now. You can do anything if you put your mind to it and these pictures are proof. A tractor, 3 Ppl and three days could do the same. So use appropriate technology if you can afford it!
Pictures of our removable shelving method. Wild pears we call them and hazelnut. Their real hard to find but about the only nut you can get in zone 2 I know of wild
These last two show one time of picking blueberries at the spot close to our house. 4l ice cream/ 2kg margarine/ two big mayo jars and part of a left over container. The two youngest weren't really into it a few yrs ago and last year we were on a garden box mission. The other pic shows the wood shed/ rabbit coop/ green house. Permaculture teaches us to do many things with one item upping productivity. It's 38.5 feet long with a double line of old chimney bricks going all the way around. Old recycled school type fencing and 1/4 inch hardware cloth also surround and protect the coop from dogs/ foxes and weasels. My only mistake was making two large doors for a atv to put wood and not putting a door within the door higher up that wouldn't freeze and could open and close while staying crack proof every time. We're dealing with weasel problems now and my 4 ft fencing for the chickens needs to be 8 feet to compensate for snow in winter. The tree you see is a sour cherry and it makes a great infusion. It tastes like juice so the bottom of a glass kept ed me of morphine once my antibiotics were done.
People wonder why the garden is so big. Our goal is to be as self sufficient as possible. The seasons are small in zone 2 and we had 4 frosts at different times killing everything the wasn't hardy. I'm going to add frames to the boxes and add a pool roller type distributor to unroll my green house plastic. Even with this high winds or something else most likely will damage crops. I want to have 4x more than I need in a good year so I'll have just enough in a bad year. Eventually this will all be hardier perennials and the garden will be elsewhere on the 100acres
Thats amazing protector. Kudos!

Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Very nice looking setup indeed! Lot of effort in there
This post I did on BBM group explains why I push so hard: For me I'm a father/ husband/ son/ friend/ PSW and support worker. If you asked me at the begining; EMP! I saw the road/ other movie and knew I was strong enough to carry all my family of 6 plus my mum/ brothers kids miles on end to protect them from sheeple and the criminal element that would get stronger in a TEOTWAWKI event. My kids family's not drinking dirty radiator water or eating snake. Then it was economic collapse. Since I've seen first hand what 20% interest rates can do and know greece/ argentina was 1000 times worse. As the oldest I brought pennies and most of my own future family money collection to the gas station to get money because my mum couldn't do it. Parents fighting over $. Jack Spirko made me realize it was worse than all of that; You needed to be ready for life! Harder and worse than all those other things combined. I had to legally with the high hrs job to make a very ok income. Protect my family from the mundane. Most probable senerios. Now it's always changing; and I know I have to be ready for my death from over working/ job loss from my very unstable job/ the elements/ pandemics/ some stupid emotional kid hurting my kids. I'm the only income until Trudeau came along. Now it's like my wife worked too. Took us out of low middle income. Now their threatening to tax it. It's just a game to them but it's real down up here. People using any advantage they can get. Eating 5yr old expired food they could get in mass for free from store working family. Getting free old bread to feed your dogs/ animals/ kids never seeing their parents because they work the equivalent of three jobs. It's all on me because I see the threat. My wife sees it more and more but language barriers and no license keeps her home. She's getting her license and I'm hoping to add cash flow investments to my life soon. I've already sold my van on payments through my buddies company. I've built a super garden to make up for size/ location and know I need to 10X my size and or experience to feed my living expenses and group. Work is great now but nearly did us in last year.
