Feed some chopped/minced garlic to your dogs (not a lot 'cos you'll poison them) repels fleas too.

I saw Ticks and thought WOOHOO Brad Paisley fan! LOL Just kidding!

I use a tea tree oil (15 drops) with grapeseed oil(about half a cup) in a lil small buck store spray bottle (from a travel pack) and spray my mutt before she ventures outside. It helps keep the ticks away so far... I just spray her all over then quickly rub it in. But we have had a flea problem since we moved into this house. Nothing seems to deter them. Borax in the carpets, chemically loaded sprays, raid, cleaning the only carpet we have in the living area... nothing seems to be getting rid of them completely. It is frustrating as hell.

We tried all the natural preventions like garlic, garlic oil and even rose geranium oil but still got ticks.

My dogs have been wearing good old fashioned flea collars for a few years now and not one tick has been found on any of them. Preventic brand works best and they last all spring/summer even with the dogs going in water. One of our dogs lost her collar up north and within a week she had ticks. As soon as we put on a new collar ticks were no where to be seen.

It's not 'green' but it works.

We get them from our vet in the GTA. I would imagine that you could call the vets around your area and find them easily. If I remember correctly they are about $20 bucks or so a piece. Worth every penny.

Preventic by Virbac is the exact name and brand. Comes in a blue and white box.

Happy tick hunting.

WildE, I believe that stuff (I can't spell it either) is poisonous to animals (I could be wrong) but I think you are supposed use it in your house (if you have a parasite infestation) and then vacuum it up before animals come in contact with it.
