I helped other people 'prep' by giving them some seedlings I started of heritage tomatoes. I told them how to save the seeds for next year and when to start them.....
Making headway on planting my garden. It's gotten quite cool again so I'm glad I hadn't gotten around to planting out my tomatoes! I'm focusing on planting storage crops. Rain barrels set up and already full.
Got my leaking connection in my solar hot water system repaired.
Che, nice buy - the Country Living Grain Mill. Maybe this will be the year that I finally can buy one.... 😉

For the first time in 3 years I bought a magazine. Now you say so what, well this caught my eye and for some strange reason I bought it without really looking what was inside. The magazine is "The New Pioneer", and it is all about self-reliance. almost everything that has been mentioned on this site, including how to put together a bug out bag. Coincident, well things like this happen to me just before an event of some kind. Well we'll see. 😈

Bloody expensive. And although it didn't come with the 'power bar ( http://store.countrylivinggrainmills.com/grinding-power-bar/ )' they still make it evident in the booklet you receive as if you received one - almost to entice you as a mark-up sell. Other then that I have to say it is a very cool tool - I ground up some wheat the other day without issues. A true Cadillac grinding machine....although I am concerned with the number of 'spare parts' they sell ( http://store.countrylivinggrainmills.com/grain-mill-parts/ ) which leads me believe that someday I'll need them?

Sorry, bit of a hiatus for a while (working my butt off) /// In the past 2 & a bit months...

- Several hours range time (rifle, shotgun & bow)
- 600 lb heifer for fall slaughter
- 24 chickens for June 15th delivery
- Marlin 1894 in .357 for Mrs. 23rd
- Marlin 1895 GBL in .45-70 for myself
- Feed for above + 00, .22, .300 for the others
- Cleaned & sorted, restocked camping gear & supplies
- Built a "Get Home Bag" to leave at the office (20 km hike)
- Full service to truck
- Rebuild kits for the generator
- Used travel trailer - Assorted hygiene items by case lot (TP, hand soap, tooth brushes, baking soda, floss, anti-bac soap)
- Batteries (AA, AAA, D, 9V)
- Several 20 lb propane tanks

Thinking of starting to hand load this year /// not looking to make sub MOA rounds, but more along the lines of massed produced stuff - with say the exception of the .300 WM /// Any advice or gear recommendations?

Keep Safe - Twenty3rdPsalm

8ft by 10ft drop sheet, pouch for my Leatherman, a monopod for my camera - could double as a defense baton, a few extra cans of food, some canola oil.

Spare battery, earphone, and antenna for the Baofeng UV5 Plus bought from ebay and the internet.

These are all ordered direct from China, and are shipped for free. Total cost of each piece is less than the cost of postage for a parcel in Canada. The Chinese subsidize their postal services, and Canada Post brings it to your door for no charge.

Bargains like this may not be around forever, as postal services are losing money. It's a good time to acquire a ham radio and accessories for under $100.

No customs charges are involved when it comes in a small envelope. Sometimes you have to sign for it, but that is just record-keeping as part of the service.

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fail, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.
