I dehydrated some potatoes & bananas (place smells lovely) & rotated out/replaced some of my B.O.B. food. I also emailed my city councilor to ask about some local industrial areas, to look into chemical release/fire hazards & what they know about them, what they plan to do if one were to occur. No info back yet but I"ll share when I do.

some people are allergic to borax , like myself, so before mixing up a batch,
make sure you find out if you to are allergic to borax , otherwise you've wasted alot of stuff
I get a bad rash on my body where the borax comes in contact with my skin , so it was easy to tell.
Thirty Six cans of #10 with a mix of stuff (Beans, Powdered Milk, Oats, Flour etc). To put into Mylar bags this week I have 30 kg of Rice, 5 kg baking powder, 30 kg of pasta, 6 kg salt, 6 kg sea salt, 3 kg pepper, 4 kg paprika and 20 kg sugar. Plus another box of 20 gauge hunting shells and a value pack of 100 shells of 12 gauge 7 1/2 shot for hunting. I have been lacking in long term food preps focusing on building a large pantry to start with so are quite pleased to have started putting food away to extend the period we can go without needing help. Lots more food to come :).
Also tempted to look into the Dehydrator mentioned in another thread to make some snacks for the boys should we need to. Not to mention easy hiking food. Next thing to research I think. Thanks for the inspiration !.
A small enclosed utility trailer (5x8'). With the move coming soon, I know here will be tons of stuff the moving company won't move (batteries, kerosene, propane tanks, ammo...). So I face the choice of living these preps behind or moving them with me on my own means; that is where the trailer comes handy. There are going to be lots of flamable products in here, so I'll pack accordingly. After that, the trailer will be handy to get out of dodge from my new Southern US location if needs be (approaching hurricane comes to mind).
A new clutch in my truck. New stainless steel exhaust. Already has new tires and new pads/clippers.
Still Need new batteries and a solar powered battery tender. They have a 15 watt battery tender I think it's a worth while investment to keep vehicles ready.

A good time to invest in spf3000 if you live on the NK penninsula.
Oh November 17, how I fear thee...
few oddball items recently, some stainless steel drinking straws, key ring ipod/iphone cables, family member is upgrading their phone so I'm getting a near mint hand me down iphone4, got a extended battery for it, and 2 stainless steel Pilsner style beer/drink glasses/cups, 1 for me, 1 for my dad.
not a prepping item perse but I added another blade to my small Movie/tv collection. a replica of the Sword Blade uses with harness. yeah I'm a geek.. but it's cool. 😛

I bought Mary Bells dehydrator book. I don't recommend this book, waste of money.
Did not realize it was written in 1994, that is 20 years old. I don't like the layout, and
the information is lacking greatly. If I send it back to amazon, it will cost probably half
the price of the book, so I don't think I will send it back.
I have taken a chance and ordered a newer dehydrating book written in 2013 from amazon ,
" The Complete IDIOT'S Guide to Dehydrating " .. LOL
Also a small size canning rack . I already have giant size and x2 large size water bath canners but I want
a small set , and I want something to use on my induction cooker, the canners I have
are not flat on the bottom for induction, ( they are magnetic ), and they are too big anyway,
so I found a small canning rack on amazon for $ 7.00 and will attempt to find a suitable stock pot
that is tall but not a huge diameter. Looks like this rack will hold 4 tiny jars . I see Walmart has
3 sizes of stock pots, one might work.
Then I can make up smaller batches when the need arises and use my induction cooker .
First 6 gal bucket of rice in Mylar, 11 more to go 🙂
This week the book " The complete idiot's guide to dehydrating foods " arrived from amazon.
It is far superior than the Mary Bells.
Also got this week a box of 20 flat fold N95 fask masks. EAch one is individually wrapped and sealed
Today I got a Lodge 8" cast iron fry pan.
I also gathered up a bunch of pine cones for kindling to have on hand for rocket stove.
Two more wool blankets. They are drying on the clothesline as I type this.
Spent too much at the Calgary gun show and the Shooting edge sale... but boy oh boy are those zombie gophers in trouble!
Sister and I spent a good portion of today Sorting out over 1/2 of my Cupboards, got stuff grouped together on shelves, in tubs etc. Cleared out a lot off the dross. Food that was just a lil too out of date was roundfiled.
Bought another big pack of my TP.. back up to at least 4 mths supply.
Bought and set a good sized metal cage style rat trap.. lil bastard been annoying me recently.. just waiting to hear the clang rattle rattle. Bloody real estate were no help.
in the near future will have sister back to help sort the rest of the stuff.. (she's my Cleaner and an absolute whiz at organizing and decluttering)

Went to our first garage sale of the year today. Only one good item for us: a stove top coffee perk. Tried it out when we got home, to make sure I remembered how to use one, as it has been about 10 years......it made a really nice cup of coffee. I am all set for a power outage now, as we have a propane stove that requires absolutely no power, other than 4 8volt batteries.
