Some very good sales this week at one of my local grocery stores...over the last 3 days, picked up around 8 dozen cans of soup and 150 pounds of fresh tomatoes. Firt batch of pasta sauce already done and in the freezer. Couple batches of tomatoes canned and ready for storage. Will be processing the rest over the next few days...more pasta sauce. A batch of homemade salsa sauce for canning. Some dehydrated tomatoes and a few other goodies.
Going back tomorrow for another 6 dozen or so cans of soup.
A folding wagon ( http://www.walmart.com/ip/Westfield-Outdoor-Folding-Wagon-Red/34109015?u1=&oid=223073.1&wmlspartner=ieeCJFIcszE&sourceid=00020077553297722899&affillinktype=10&veh=aff , mine has a slightly different handle and seemingly thicker wheels, remainder is the same), which I figure would be handy to keep in the truck when the family goes to the beach or outdoor events... Or as a GHW (Get Home Wagon), which surely beats having a backpack on the shoulder and a toddler in my arms.
Also got another .22 rifle. Nothing ninja-tacticool, just a reliable semi auto with common parts and common ammo. I'm now set with enough .22 rifle and ammo to hunt small game for a few decades worth of post-apocalyptic living (hehe!) - and/or teaching others how to properly shoot effectively and safely.
Going to the next level on home security...'nuf said.
Ordered 20 (10 AA and 10 AAA) rechargeable batteries and 5 usb chargers to keep on hand as barter packs of 2 AA + 2 AAA + 1 charger.
Ordered 16 more AA rechargeable batteries for home use along with a dozen AA to D adaptors.
As a note, we order different colors of batteries for different uses...purple = comms, grey = general home use, green = barter, etc.
Ordered 30 meters of gill net.
Bringing 5 x 20l gas cans to Ontario with me tomorrow to refill for storage gas.

I had spent all my book budget at the expo before I remembered I wanted that handbook haha. I did however go to the Survival Medic seminar that Amy did, very informative, learned a bit more about my first aid kits, and was able to pick up a few extra supplies with that knowledge! So on top of first aid kit stuff, I picked up an extra pack of water tablets, and a few books at the show, then a shiny new s30v knife at bass pro afterwards, along with another pack of bugspray cans, and a flat of 1ltr cookstove propane tanks.
And great to meet you at the Ottawa meet this past weekend HIR 🙂
Every moment in time, is an opportunity to learn
Back at you 🙂
I haven't read the book yet but it literally looks like birth-to-death type comprehensive...

It looks like great fun and another reason to stay the course of getting fit and into better shape.
well i checked expiry dates on my food supplies and i gave the stuff that's a mount away from expiry date to family and got more food .
Thank you
NDN
Funny, I just made stew and pasta (two different meals) using canned pasta sauce that "expired" in 2012 I think lol. No worse for wear, or runs... 😯
The expiry dates on cans is put there for profit: stores and companies can move (ie sell) the merchandise faster if people THINK the cans are going to go bad. There has been no scientific research on each and every food in a can to remotely suggest a date that it will spoil. It's just for profit so relax, your so called 'expired' cans of food haven't actually gone rotten inside.
This week I added a portable bag shower to my preps. Why you may ask... well hygiene for one is important but not only that it gives me a way to also move larger amounts of water should the need arise and with a family of 4 all the water one can carry or move the better.
Cheers,
BOA.
Just remember.... the Boy Scouts have been saying it for years.... Be Prepared!
