Well, this is not a "prep" per se, but prepper fiction. I just finished reading The Final Day by William Forstchen. I don't usually buy books new or hardcover, but I made an exception for this book. This is the 3rd in the series, that started with One Second After and continued with One Year After. Wow. Good final book, even if it was less survivalist and more military-focussed.

"The thing about smart mother f*ckers, is that they sometimes sound like crazy mother f*ckers to dumb mother f*ckers." -Abraham .”
Thanks, HopeImReady.
I really enjoyed One Second After, and One Year After, and am currently out of anything good to read, except for hubbies hard core SF stuff. I will definitely source out a copy for My library.
Kootenay kid, if you like those books, then check out The Going Home series by "A American".

Thanks HopeImReady, I will do that. My computer crashed last week--lost the hard drive on a 6 month old system, so had to send it to my Tech for repairs. Re-read One Second After and One year after. Enjoyed them equally as much this time as last. I will order those books from Amazon next week.

That time of the year again...getting ready for the gardening season!!
Planning on trying to expand the garden this year, which will produce more canning goods...and possibly make more preparations in the summer for winter gardening.

A nesco food dehydrator, five, 5 gallon pails with gamma lids and a food saver vacuum sealer. Let the fun begin!
Well, I was lucky and won a solar light/charger at the town expo last weekend. Got the phone call this week to go pick it up. Had no idea what I had really won and it seems like a decent little product. The light has 3 settings and can be quite bright. I've tested it in my cold storage room and it lit up the place really nicely, I could have sat down and read a book. It's also supposed to have enough power stored to charge an iPad or a couple of iPhones. In all cases, free... I'm happy! 🙂
Savage Model 42. A .22/.410 over under single shot survival rifle. Also went through my get home bag, replaced the water and some fresh energy bars.
Rotated 30 Gals of gas and obtained another 5 Gals of diesel (tractor). Bought a large rain barrel on special at Costco. It's not installed yet as I'll need to modify the downspout a bit. Working on tilling all the garden beds and also prepared the coop for our 4 new chickens (in June when I come back from a job). It will be 2 Black Copper Marans and 2 "Easter Eggers", looking forward to picking them up!
What have I added this week? A new grandson!
A machette
A slingshot
Another Axe
Camp Shovel
My electronics lab is now almost completely stocked with a supply of tools, components, and ham radio kits and plans. I can now repair almost anything I own and even build a few neat projects!
