Poor Hawaii, island bound with little option but boat for large shipments. But planes can and have been used effectively before. Check out the below for a good laugh

Once people start talking, they will silently say, yah maybe I should get a little extra and away it will go and keep building.
Guessing there will be many such sudden excursions going on around the continent this weekend!
Went to cabelas to pickup some stuff and wandered over to freeze dried area and it was fully stocked. Though two sections of packets were gone. Guess one person really loved beef stroganoff. lol:
Guessing your correct. Shouldn’t be much longer before you move of this. Once people go to buy and notice an absence, they will grab a few extra of this or that and then, poof!
They were stocking up other shelves so maybe not entirely representative of what is on the low end, but this stuck out.
I’m better supplied than some of my friends and neighbours. They just roll their eyes if I mention buying a few extra items.
And just found this: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/covid-19-fears-causing-panic-buying-in-vancouver-1.4833426
While so far I have been able to get everything I wanted, I've had to visit 2 or 3 stores to do it. One store I was in yesterday where I picked up rubbing alcohol, tyvek coveralls, and a butt load of hand sanitizer, the cashier didn't even bat an eye. Instead, she made a remark about better to be prepared.
When another customer asked about masks, she said they were sold out, then confided in me that she had gotten hers weeks ago.
I have noticed that grocery stores seem to be much busier these past few days, but then again, welfare and family allowance checks went out around the same time as the MSM started warning people to get ready. I think it will be another week or so before I can really tell if people are stocking up for the virus or not.
Needed to hit the bigger end of the city in order to get some paperwork and such done on a Saturday, (our little town does not evening or weekend hours) so I said to hubby, lets grab some extra of this and that.. (now remember he had looked for the same items in three stores downtown and at the big Walmart on his route home and they were all sold out)
Hit the big London drugs.. asked the clerk.. said they have nothing left, not sure when its coming in, and I was the 20th plus person in the last hour she needed to say no to..
Now I am not just focused on the hand, so I was able to get some things , grabbed the last six box's of the little swabs of a hundred each to go in the med kits but works for other things.. She sent us to a different store.. nothing.. then we said, ok, lets move out of orleans and head to a smaller town on our way home.. hit the Walmart.. nothing all sold out.. crazy amount of people that were asking, sold out of many basic's that most folks would think of.
I on the other hand was thrilled we made the stop.. they had listerine on sale and for a great sale price, and I snagged every single bottle of the original (which was created in the world war as a disinfectant) but after the war they needed a way to market it.. only the real stuff will work but its worth its weight for sure.. Also got the last on the shelf of the big bottles of Dettol, going old school people.. it gets the job done.
They also had massive sales on sunlight dish soap (the size of the big laundry tubs) plus good sales on toilet paper and 5 dollars off on my cat food, so I grabbed another cart and put up a solid 3 months supply for my farm cats as hunting is really lean right now on the farm.. Also grabbed another 3 months supply for the hounds..
Easier to feed the hounds out of the house if needed but that would cut into our food and I am not sure I want to do that.. stopped at the feed store and got a few things there that I knew no one would think to get and I was right but very slim numbers on the shelf, in some cases only one.. but got a couple more boxes of gloves and boxes of shoe boots covers etc.
On a side note got in heavy order of seeds, I am not counting on us having a normal seed saving ability this coming year.. so I am working on a two year plan.. I do not want to need to save much to anything seed wise this year in the gardens, I want them in full production to put up.. So that means I need to plan that into my current seed buying.
anyone who has ever grown and saved seed knows that it does take away from your production.. Something to keep in mind this year.. review your seeds on how long they will keep for.. some are great and easily keep 5 to 8 years or more.. others not so much.. 2 or 3 years before you will see issues.. plan accordingly.
So on my facebook, I had a girlfriend that posted on the subject and let me tell ya.. 60 plus people answered it and at least 50% talked about having spent 500 to 800 plus in the past few days stocking up.. they are all aiming for 14 days to 30 days for there own family..
Man, they do love their Costco lol

$500 - $800 in the past few days?
Sounds about right for us, and yeah, we went to several stores to get things on our list...still a few to get too.
Ok I had to laugh at this one.. so a friend of mine was in line with her shopping carts filled with "stock up" and in front of her was a couple that had wait for it.. 3 TV's.. the smaller ones like you would get for a bedroom.. they dropped close to 400 on them and said to the girl.. if my kids have to stay home, they all need to have their own screens to watch netflicks on.. no way are they going to fight about who is watching what..
Now either they were so well stocked up that this was like the splurge.. or they are totally unprepared and they honestly think spending that 400 of so on small TVs will be what keeps peace in the house lol
Just made me laugh FG

Went to Walmart today. Lots of non-perishables shelves look barren, rice near empty and no powdered milk to be found in the store. Even evaporated milk was in short supply (interesting since it was Mrs that recommended we stock up on powdered milk - no concerns my friends, I have 25lbs packed in mylar in pails she doesn't know about 😉 )
Most disinfectants were sold out, as were the shelves of hand sanitizers and masks - again, not to worry, I still have an abundant supply on hand in my usual stash.
Picked up the last bottle of kids vitamins. May be a coincidence, may be because of rails blockades, may be due to hoarding... In the meanwhile, we re-stocked some of our non-perishable, but even if were told to stay home for a month, we'd have been fine.
I have some friends in Virginia, and every time a massive storm rolls in they send photos of the grocery store shelves being bare. I might have posted some of them here at some point...can't remember.
It was mentioned to me in another forum that when Corona Virus passes, keep an eye out for cheap goods on kijiji, thrift stores, or your fav. social media sales pages. There will be all kinds of great goodies available to pick up for cheap. Those who knee jerk on these issues seem to also forget about them just as fast. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing..or both. Definitely good for the prepper looking for cheap food, generators, infection control measures, and anything else under the sun. 🙂

Should nothing occur / need supplies, I wonder what people will do.be mighty smart if they kept their supplies and built upon them. Can’t see cans of soup, peas and bags of pasta being sold on kijji but maybe a generator or two. Stores will likely put on sales of hand sanitizer and masks so good for People to snag.
cracks me up and this is merely what may be the very beginning. Video from the US but I can expect things to look like this soon enough. funny thing is the stocking up of water? As i hate drinking city tap water ( maybe get stuck doing that twice a year) i can see people wanting to stock up but many they need to invest in some water filtration systems and save themselves money and effort!. Sardines... all make sense
ADDITION TO ABOVE:
My statement above isn’t completely accurate and wish to correct. When I was chatting with a relative who is on a small municipal well water system, I said to stock up on water and get a quality water filter For use with water from local pond. Unless the municipal or large city water systems have all replacement parts for everything needed to run a well ( their case) or complex city water filtration system, they may be up the dirty creek without a paddle! Silly parts for a motor, filters, chemicals......... are all needed.
As people who prep, we would be well advised to think of ALL the funny things we need and extrapolate to other systems we rely upon. Nothing we can do about others but once we recognize a potential issue, we can try and build a work around in our.
Having worked on some pretty interesting projects etc, I can attest to how people and their plans fall apart within minutes of questioning a plan. It’s wild !
So yes water can be an issue for many!
Here’s a good one that shows various individual posts.
I praise the minister and Tam for saying in part what should be said. While they didn’t say a good month would be wise, they did says week or so. At least it’s not the silly three day statement. I understand the concept of three days but that should be used more as ones first foray nto what is needed and quantities. Easier to wrap your head around three days of water then a months! The basics in the three day are good for light, meds, important docs, plans to leave a home... water and food can then be multiplied to the extent you have money and space etc. so glad these two people spoke up and I am sure they were given the stink eye by their bosses, but good on them. About bloody time, some honest words were spoken
Gov official who downplay the need to stock up know it’s embarrassing for them and that’s all these parasitic politicians care about/ avoiding any questioning on why they are not prepared
So stock up, take care of your families and friends, because rest assured, these lazy parasites will be well fed and taken care of.
Completely anecdotal, but some of the managers at local Costco's have said they've seen sales even on the slowest days (Mondays) increase exponentially. What used to be $650k in sales is now well over a million on that day. Lots are packed.
What an interesting phenomenon.... Now that the Region of Waterloo has had its first case of Covid 19 declared (sometime this morning) I'm sure this will get more intense.
