I expect price of oil falling to in the 30s range, not far from it already. Look at the graph on the right, thats lack of demand your looking at, lack of economic activity. https://oilprice.com/oil-price-charts

Canadian crude has already fallen to 28!

I just heard on the radio oil just fell 9.50 a barrel on Asian markets...Just checked WTI and its right at 30.00 now..free fall. I think it was 38.xx when I first made the above post. Its going to be a blood bath in the markets Monday!

There is a saying "may you live in interesting times", well these are interesting times.

WTI is 28.00 as I watch it fall further. That must be below the price of a barrel of Kentucky fried chicken. My province is going to be getting a round house kick in the head, expect the Canadian dollar to fall.

Dollar has fallen, and oil has fallen. Fed's dropped the federal lending rate by .5% last week which caused more jitters in the market.

If you were fiscally prudent this last decade of boom...this is a real windfall. Stock up on gas, pay down debt more or even borrow. And time to buy stock like crazy in the energy sector. When it rebounds from this knee jerk, there is money to be made! 🙂

Ok, I just seen shortages myself for the first time. In a town south of Edmonton the major stores like Walmart, Superstore, empty shelves of toilet paper, powdered milk and runs on other things like sugar, flour and such. Panic buying is what I see it as, and I noticed limits on how many items of things you could buy. I think I will stay out of the stores for a while no point mixing with the animals unless I have too.

Lots of possibilities but it could be there is a general shortage, product is a commodity, so is it being snagged by other reseller for higher price, could be gov agencies or the building owner & managers snagging for their buildings/ toilet paper.

In canada, we could be feeling hangover from rail issue

Or US based comp is keeping greater chunk of product in their country.

Hope enough people who have a desire to prep can obtain what they want and everyone should look at what the alternatives are when first choice isn’t there. Be it Home made hand sanitizer, tuna instead of canned chicken, pasta versus rice....

Anyone note shortages in mechanical, electrical areas? Wouldn’t be surprised to learn contractors doing some parts prepping!

So far have not noticed anything but normal stocks in the hardware stores in this regards, I made a list of all my planned projects for the year and then looked at our stores and I have been "bringing in to replace as used" I am just trying to plan that we can do our years projects and end the year with the same amount of stored extra's..

Early replacement.. ya that what it is..

Talking to a family member that works for C# Rail. He said it's not really making the news but with the backlog of rail cars that piling up, they were seeing an uptick in theft.

Friend near ottawa said Walmart had some empty toilet paper shelves. In speaking with a wise person and with ww2 experience in Europe, they said toilet paper was gold, so if there are seniors in a family, they may be influencing the younger members. Who knows, but hey, it is nice to have. beans rice... are my first priority but while funny to some, it is nice to have

Interesting about the rail thefts. Nice tempting targets

My mom told me today that some folks got in a fist fight in a red deer store over something they both wanted at the store.. but she is not sure what it was.. lol

Last Friday, on the Ottawa train, one person kept talking about the "mess we are in" a bit of metal health happening there as he was just talking out loud (maybe on a phone, maybe not) but it got the guy across from hubby angry, every time the guy went off, the other guy, would say, shut up.. no one wants to here it.. be quiet.. when they both went to get off at the station, it went into yelling, shoving and at least one fist thrown..

This morning on the bus, hubby had a passanger and the driver get into a screaming match that the passanger and the person they were traveling with get kicked off the bus..

We are not even there and tempers are starting to run short..

That's funny, well not if you are there, but hearing about it. I will pass on my usual exploratory romps through the stores looking for loss leader sales when I am in the city, I just don't need the grief of mixing with the herd. Good news is its spring and warm temps so I can use my electric bike again.

The mental health angle should get a little interesting! Have a good friend is so fed up about people panicking about virus. He believes it’s a nothing burger and no big deal! I can actually see him blaming those who grab the last can of tuna in front of him, instead of blaming himself for not getting some food since i first told him to get prepared in 1999. We are generally a meek lot here in canada but I don’t think we have been truly tested since 1939.

Hand sanitizer is harder to find now except in the tiny carrying bottles. But not totally gone. Surplus stores and dollaram are out but the more expensive stuff in pharmacies is readily availabe in ROW. Masks are plenty...and so it toilet paper. lol.

There is a noticeable increase in shopping at Costco's and stores...but so far aside from a few days a couple weeks ago, everything is in stock and readily available. I wouldn't buy masks at HOme Depot atm...super expensive, but they are there by the bin full at cash registers.

Guess we wait and see what happens.
