My preps over the last two weeks...
1. Gathered two dozen empty 2 kg whey powder plastic tubs that my co-workers had been accumulating in the lunch room, and filled them with rice, flour, lentils and quinoa.
2. Filled jerry cans with 3 full tanks of gasoline, to be rotated in 3 month intervals, and stored safely in shed.
3. Re-packed 72 hour survival kit with a few winter preparedness items.
4. Ran a cumulative 110 km this week with a weighted pack. Lifted weights over 3 sessions this week.
5. Disassembled, cleaned, oiled and tested actions on new rifles. Whetted blades.
6. Tested out 4 different means of obtaining clean drinking water - boiling melted snow, filtering river water with a pump, adding sodium dichloroisocyanurate tablets, and stirring with a battery operated UV wand.
Tomorrow: Hiking 16 km to work with full 60 lb winter expedition pack. I'll be starting out at 4:45am. If you see a dude with a full pack along the Memorial Drive bike path tomorrow morning, honk your horn. 🙂
Well we had a banner 2 weeks:
and my big score was a Champion generator 😀

Well......I have made soy and beeswax candles. Been rounding up canning jars all over. Ones that take the glass top and rubber seals are the ones I'm using. It's difficult finding those zinc lids....cheaply. I have many quartz and pint candles. I found a second hand clay tea light burner, so I made beeswax tealights and tarts. Lots of jam. Since the prices of beef and pork are rising next year, watch Save-on foods when their beef is $2.99 a pound. This week pork tenderloin is on sale.
