Russian sks from bullseye sports. My first firearm! Two lifestraws, a gransfors bruks small forest axe and a Mora companion heavy duty. Impressive knife for the price, but I'm not all that comfortable with the rat tail tang but time will tell how durable it is.

Rotated the bottled water in our vehicles and got a couple flats of bottled water for storage. Added a couple of small fishing kits for the GHB and EDCC (every day car carried...) bag.

Installed and ready to go. Just working on completing the finishes now around the new fire place. (trim carpet, grout last few stones, and fireproof joists and insulate between them, install a larger heat shield above for aesthetics.)

And yes...before the northerners chuckle....its a small wood stove. 🙂 But good enough for the entire basement if we lose power. Like last year with the ice storm fiasco.... 🙄

Looks good Crown. Who did the chimney work. I'm looking into feasibility of retrofitting a brick oil chimney for wood. Would like a recommend on someone competent. Hopefully able to do the WETT cert as well.

Thanks

Excellent thecrownsown! Less is more - our little wood stove in the basement kept us going during the '98 Ice Storm......... and heat rises.

It looks good, I am suspecting just from what I see, you must have about 3.5 feet horizontal before hitting the wall add maybe 8 inch's through the wall, then maybe another foot before a 90 takes you vertical. So 5 feet horizontal? with what look to me like 3 bends, has me wondering how it starts up from cold when its -15, -20 or worse? Basements can be the worst for getting a fire going

Recently have bought more clothes - love it when Big Big guys clothes are on cheap.
A Gerber Fit, which has become my bedside tool, has decent torch with basic multi tool tools but no pliers.
Get my new bed in a few weeks, gives more storage space underneath.
Rotated and replaced more stored food
Advised a friend as to more basic supplies for them to get in light of the Cyclone near here last week
Sorted through another tub of stuff and got rid of useless crap and old papers. Slowly getting more organised and streamlined
Eating better and dodged a Hep A scare (despite being ill with a few symptoms at same time)

I finally scored an excalibur - 26 hour timer, 5 trays, glass door and drying sheets. Practically brand new (used only 3 times and they gave up) and I paid less than half the price of a new one. I am so pleased.

I bought a sack of second hand hockey pucks.
Drilled an indentation in 4 made stacks 3 high with indentation on top
Put in some JB Weld to stick em on
This raised my bed just enough to get them old tubs under it
Didn't have to buy a new bed

Ingenious, Mule Skinner! When we were kids, my grandmother used to keep extra canned goods under the bed. She grew up in the depression. Now I do the same.
I washed wine bottles and put away 40 litres of water.

before I bought my new oversized recliner (designed for the large among us) I used to use 8 yellow pages phones taped together in 2's as risers for my armchair, strong, cost me just the cost of a roll of packing tape as the books themselves were left in the stairwells of the unit block for 6 weeks b4 I salvaged em. made the chair a very comfy height to sit in, and easy to get in and out of. if I sit too long with my knees above my hips I can get so stiff I can't get up without help.

I have kept them as a just in case item.

What is this "yellow pages phone book" you talk about and when did it exist? Is this one of those mystical artifacts I hear about like the 8 track and cassette tape? 😎
